From the sidelines to centre play, Victoria’s First Peoples are actively engaged in the state’s clean energy transition.

Through collective negotiation power and setting standards for proponents, the context is changing from top-down decision making to First Nations place-based approaches better reflecting rights and interests, local needs and aspirations.

This session looks at what’s currently at play, the wins and the challenges, and asks, what else can be done to ensure systemic change and what can First Nations in other jurisdictions learn from the transformational work that’s taken place as a result of First Peoples leadership in Victoria.
