Name
COMMUNITY BENEFITS TOOLKIT - A menu of options for creating lasting value
Date & Time
Thursday, August 20, 2026, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Description

No two communities are the same and too often, community benefit discussions focus on a narrow range of outcomes, such as community funds or a small number of local jobs. In reality, projects can create many different forms of benefit (or value), from equity ownership and long-term revenue to workforce development, cheaper energy, cultural outcomes and Caring for Country.

This session explores the growing "menu of options" available to communities, proponents and governments. Drawing on practical examples from across Australia, this session will consider how projects can be designed to create lasting economic, social, cultural and environmental value, and how communities can identify the outcomes that matter most to them.
