As renewable energy development accelerates globally, First Nations people and communities are playing an important role in shaping how projects are developed and managed aligned with community priorities and aspirations. It is something we have the right, responsibility and power to shape.
Through stories of persistence, leadership and practical action, speakers will share where they exerted influence, what changed because of it, and the lessons they hope others will carry forward.
This session reviews the momentous work already underway in building community power, unlocking institutional finance and removing significant policy barriers and asks the question, what further steps need to be undertaken to decolonise the global energy system?
