We're excited to invite you to the
First Nations Clean Energy Symposium

Hosted by the First Nations Clean Energy Network with the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) on Wadawurrung Country, Djilang (Geelong, Victoria).

From changing the narrative to driving equity and ownership in major projects, First Nations communities are building power in Australia's renewable energy transition. Communities have been leading the way, breaking down barriers, and centering our people as rights holders and partners. We know what's needed, and we're getting it done.

The First Nations Clean Energy Symposium, Australia's only First Nations-led annual national event, brings together Traditional Owners, leaders and communities with investors, policy makers, industry and government to collaborate.

This year we reflect on some of the amazing work being led by our communities both here and internationally, and take action on what's next.

symposium overview

When First Nations communities lead, everyone benefits. Across Australia and globally, First Nations are designing, participating in and leading clean energy development, from rooftop solar and battery storage, to standalone power solutions and microgrids, to major solar, wind, and transmission partnerships. Our communities are still showing what’s possible when we lead. Here in Australia, momentum is building.

There are now some 30 First Nations clean energy partnerships, a testament to the determination of our communities to seize opportunities, drive change, and make clean energy work for us.

The 2026 Symposium is where we build on this progress and drive the change still needed. We'll focus on delivering real outcomes, from energy efficient solutions in homes and communities, to strong agreements for benefit-sharing and co-ownership, to removing structural barriers and opening the doors to clean energy development, by us and with us.

At this year's Symposium, we will also be celebrating five years on the First Nations Clean Energy Network! Five years of First Nations’ capacity building, partnering with industry and government, and driving community-led change in Australia's new energy landscape.

This is a space to connect, collaborate and move forward together. There will also be networking opportunities including the Welcome Reception on Tuesday 18 August, and the Symposium Dinner Showcase on Wednesday 19 August.

This is a First Nations-led space. It's about us, for us, grounded in self-determination, free prior and informed consent, partnership, respect, and care for Country.
